Architectural Design Internship

We believe in supporting the youth to reach their full potential. In 2011, the Architectural Design Internship Programme was established by The Wharf ArchDesign Resource Trust (WART) to provide opportunities for outstanding youth to learn from ground-breaking international architectural design practices. The programme aims at fostering excellence in architecture and grooming future star architects by providing local students with placement opportunities in international setting that are at the cutting edge of architectural design.

To date, the Group has already awarded 41 outstanding architectural postgraduates to intern in renowned architectural firms in Denmark, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The Programme celebrated its 9th anniversary in 2019. To mark this milestone, a “Nine Wooden Chairs” exhibition was held at Harbour City to showcase a series of chairs designed by nine past awardees. Each chair puts the designer’s thoughts and vision from their overseas’ internship experience on display and demonstrates their observations and reflection on architecture in relation to the increasingly “glocalising” design scenes.
